Guy Fawkes Day is a historical event that happened November 5, 1605 when Guy Fawkes, a member of the Gunpowder Plot, was arrested while guarding heavy explosives that the plotters had buried underneath the House of Lords. They wanted to kill King James I and his leaders. The London people began lighting bonfires celebrating that Guy Fawkes plan had failed. After this, Parliament made November 5 a public day of thanksgiving. This holiday is mainly an excuse to watch fireworks, make bonfires and drink.
