Warrior baseball by Nate Gaines

The Warrior baseball team competed in the regional tournament on Saturday and Monday. In the first game, the Warriors defeated the Southside Southerners 5-4 in an intense game to qualify for the state tournament. The Monday they played the Lonoke Jackrabbits in a game, they had controversy before the game. Our coach, Landon Moore, refused to do our pre-game routine until the Lonoke team was in their dugout because they were sitting right behind first base, and coach was worried that one of them could be hit. Then their coach used some profanity and argued with the umpire and was ultimately given the choice to forfeit or put his team in the dugout. In the bottom of the 7th inning with Avery Felts on the mound for Westside, Lonoke put together a late rally. Casey Martin, a University of Arkansas signee, came up to the plate with the bases loaded and 2 outs. Martin flew out to end the game, and Westside won 2-1.
The Warriors lost in the title game 14-3 to Central Arkansas Christian and earned the second seed for the state tournament. The Warriors play the Pea Ridge Blackhawks in the first round of the state tournament Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
