The National Football League held its annual first-year player draft April 27- 29 in PHiladelphia. For 253 players their dreams came true; they are now NFL players. The SEC led the draft with 53 selections from the conference, including 12 in the first round.
Myles Garrett was the first overall pick by the Cleveland Browns, a defensive end from Texas A&M, an SEC school; Garrett was the consensus first pick leading up to the draft. Mitchell Trubisky from North Carolina was the second pick in the draft by the Chicago Bears, and Bears fans let their opinion be known by loudly booing Trubisky when he came up to the stage to meet the commissioner Roger Goodell. The University of Arkansas produced three selections-- Jeremy Ledbetter (a 6th round pick by the Lions), Jeremy Sprinkle (a 5th round pick by the Redskins), and Deatrich Wise Jr. (a 4th round pick by the Patriots). Chad Kelley, a quarterback from the University of Mississippi, was the last pick of the draft by the Broncos and became “Mr.Irrelevant.”
