Warriors vs. Gosnell

Going into this last week, the whole team knew what was at stake. Possibly to get the highest seed in the playoffs that no other Westside team has even come close enough to accomplishing, or us being the first team in school history to ever beat Gosnell. To start the game, the Warriors received the opening kickoff, drove the ball down the field, and got on the scoreboard first. Gosnell soon followed, but instead of kicking the PAT, they line up for the 2 pt. Conversion which was stopped by the Warrior D making the score 7 -6 Westside up. We then get the ball back, and Will Yearta finds Austin Tyler deep down field for a quick 7 making the score 14 - 6. Gosnell then scores again but gets stopped on another 2pt conversion making the score 14 - 12. Westside is still on top going into the half. Opening of the 2nd half Gosnell receives the ball and then comes out on offence. Cody Watson comes up with a huge interception for the defence. The Warrior offence comes back to the field and marches all the way down to about the 7. 4th and goal and Coach Engle decides to leave the offence on the field. The handoff is to the left to tailback Tyke Taylor, and he is stopped just before picking up the 1st down. Gosnell went on to score 2 more touchdowns and two 2pt conversions ending the game Gosnell 28, Westside 14. The team fought hard against the #1 team in the conference but couldn’t hold on in the end. The Warriors will face the Pocahontas Redskins at 7:00 this Friday night for Sr. Night. Come out and support your Warriors! --Dalton Cassels and Mason Jones
