PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) is a disorder that develops in some people who have experienced a shocking, scary, or dangerous event such as walking into a gas station that’s being robbed, having a gun pointed towards their head, almost drowning, and many other things that can trigger this disorder in any age group.
Not ever traumatized person develops ongoing or short term PTSD, as well as not everyone with this disorder has been through a dangerous event. Some experiences like a sudden loss of a loved one, can also cause PTSD. Some can recover within a few months and others can experience a much longer time period.
