Cardinals Win

The St. Louis Cardinals bounced back from Saturday’s 4-2 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies with a 9-0 victory over the Phillies. Behind strong pitching from Mike Leake, who for the most part this season has been mediocre with a 9-9 record and a 4.56 ERA, most definitely not earning his 5 year 75 million dollar contract he received this offseason. As well Brandon Moss,a trade deadline acquisition of the 2015 season, had a strong game at the plate adding a home run, which was his 23rd of the season, which is a team high. Moss, before being traded last year, was having the worst season of his 9 year big league career and was actually considering a career change to become a firefighter before being traded to St.Louis. Moss, however, has bounced back this season in an impressive fashion putting up a slash line of .262/.336/.912 as compared to last season’s of .226/.304/.711. Moss is in the running for National League Comeback Player of Year. The Cardinals are currently 1.5 games ahead of the Miami Marlins in National League Wild Card race. Go Cards!  --Nate Gaines
