States repeal common core

Initially, 45 states adopted academic standards from Common Core. Since then, seven of these state have repealed them. Among the remaining 38 states, a dozen more states are currently considering abandoning Common Core. Reasons for this is that some conservatives see the shared standards as a federal intrusion into state matters. Other criticize the standards because they think there is an excessive amount of testing and complicated teaching materials. President Obama suggested limiting the amount of class time spent on testing. He said that excessive testing “takes the joy out of teaching and learning.” Common Core standards are also a popular topic of debate in the Republican presidential race. What are your opinions on Common Core? Do you prefer to keep Common Core or would you rather repeal it like seven states already have?
