Chris Mintz was a hero at Oregon Umpqua Community College. He heard gunshots Thursday. His first thoughts were to save others. Then he thought about his six year old son. He tried to block the door to prevent the gunman from entering; he was shot three times until he hit the floor. He then looked up at the gunman and said, “It’s my son’s birthday today.” Without mercy, Mintz was shot again. There is no telling how many more times he was shot, and both of his legs were broken. He’s going to have to learn how to walk again, but his family and friends are grateful he is still alive. Nine people died, and nine others were injured in this horrific tragedy.
