Flashback--1940s by Haley Robinson

Flashback- 1940s
Drive-In Movie Theater- During the 30s most movie theaters were on the main street and had little to no parking; movies would be projected on the sides of buildings. In Camden, New Jersey in 1933 Richard Hollingshed started the first real drive-in theater. As their popularity grew, the number of theaters went from 155 to 820 from 1946-1948. Playgrounds were also built for children to play at while their parents enjoyed the movie.
